The existing solar power plant, equipped with automation components from another supplier which caused numerous failures etc., required modernization and ultimately needed to be made more profitable. Primary objective: A reliable system without failures, while at the same time offering a higher "solar profit".
Modular and expandable Simatic S7-1200 basic controllers and the "Solar Tracking Toolbox" – a collection of tailor-made software blocks for the efficient implementation of tracking solar power plants.

The Bindlacher Berg solar power plant consists of three networked arrays with a total of three "trackers" that follow the sun. The plant is operated by an investment association which, together with the system integrator Gerlitz elektro-GmbH and Siemens, is modernizing this solar park and has been able to increase the yield (insolation) significantly.
