Varian Medical Systems Imaging Laboratory GmbH

Palo Alto United States of America

Palo Alto, USA
In 1937, Russell and Sigurd Varian introduced Klystron, an electron tube with which high-frequency signals could be amplified. Having also worked on technology for the moon landing, the company is now the leader in the development of radiotherapy systems, such as TrueBeam. Varian Medical Systems Imaging Laboratory GmbH (VMS iLab) is located in Dättwil (Switzerland), with headquarters in Palo Alto, California (USA).
  • Environment exposed to radiation from radiotherapy systems for moving tumors
  • Communication with the Visual Coaching Device (VCD) is required so that the patient can control their respiratory movement during treatment
  • Robust SCALANCE W774-1 Access Points for wireless communication with the VCD
  • The VCD is wirelessly connected to the radiotherapy system
  • Camera data is transmitted to the VCD and displayed to the patient in real time for the better control of respiration during treatment
Hospitals must be able to rely on the machine having a long service life and the components being available for a long time
Benjamin Wyrsch, hardware developer at Varian Medical Systems Imaging Laboratory GmbH.
  • Reliable, real-time wireless communication
  • Investment protection through longevity of the SCALANCE W devices
