The customers main goal was to implement a new automation system. The automation system ought to rely on data from management technology, accounting and the entire production complex. In addition to this, the customer wanted to increase process reliability and implement disaster recovery strategies. Furthermore, the customer aimed to minimize operating and maintenance time and costs. 

Siemens service experts introduced modernization via SIMATIC Virtualization as a Service (SIVaaS). Due to intensive cooperation between Siemens and Ocrim, the requirements with regard to the special features of production, the network architecture and the existing automation systems were determined. Following the determination of the requirements, measures for conversion and preparation were developed. In order to meet the requirements for greater flexibility and availability of the overall system, the system platform was designed on the basis of SIVaaS technology with WinCC V7.5 SP2 virtual machines.
