WestfalenWIND has made a significant contribution to the expansion of wind energy in Germany and covers over 100% of the electricity demand in the Paderborn area from renewable energies. They focus on the energy transition with wind energy, photovoltaics, electricity sales and green IT with their own data centers, which are installed in their own wind turbines.
Objectives: The challenge was to integrate different data models, different system types with different interfaces into a common standardized system. In addition, the system portfolio and thus the control system is being continuously expanded. To optimize the transmission bandwidths, data was to be bundled and buffered decentrally.

WestfalenWIND operates a central control center that operates and monitors 200 wind turbines in 35 wind farms as well as its own WindCores data centers. The control system runs in the company's own WindCores cloud and provides various operators with the turbine information.
The WinCC OA control system, with its adaptability, high-performance scalability and the ability to set up hierarchically distributed, autonomous networks, is ideally prepared for the task. The special MWSC library provided a ready-to-use operator application for rapid project implementation.
