Typically, manufacturing processes were optimized with traditional measures and programs, but new technologies can offer more insights in order to increase quality and performance to the next level.
Hence, Nestlé wanted a solution for Closed Loop Manufacturing including Plant Simulation, TIA Portal, Preactor Scheduling and MindSphere IIoT with the aim of improving competitiveness and profitability with reduced cost-of-production. Moreover, Nestlé needed an automatic and transparent production environment that enables continuous development.
Together with Siemens, a digital
transformation project was
brought to life which ensures continuous data-driven development and allows
leveraging the most out of the factory processes.
The project consists of three
phases:
Phase 1 – Consulting:
Experts from Siemens and our ecosystem provided extensive Value Hacker
consultancy services to better understand the brownfield process conditions of
the Juuka
factory. Based on the audit results and existing information, a Digital Twin of the factory was drafted to
further simulate and analyze the production.
Phase 2 – Implementation:
Based on the consultancy phase findings, the complete factory automation system
was modernized to the latest TIA portal V15 and equipped with the relevant
industrial software platforms to ensure open and continuous data-driven
development. Commissioning efficiency was ensured with virtual commissioning
against SIMIT process models.
Phase 3 – Optimization:
The parties entered a 5-year performance-based service contract for
further driving down the plant’s cost-of-production
with Siemens’ digitalization services. The business model is based on benefit
sharing.
Juuka digitalization showcase will act as a global best practise model
for Siemens / Nestlé cooperation.
