A green field project about sorting and packaging of chicory. The right choices have to be made upfront since this process still included a highly manual interaction with a high number of operators. Optimizing the total number of FTE required is a must. From idea to operation, in other words the time-to-market is and remains a key driver for their project deliveries.
This is where the concept validation has helped to challenge the different potential scenarios of the plant structure. TECNOMATIX Plant simulate has been used in combination with SIMIT and PLCSIMAdvanced. In other words the DE Module DE-017.
In starting phase the end-customer has been convinced using the MIL (model-in-the-loop) concept validation. During further analysis of the scenarios the behavior model (SIMIT) and controller emulation (PLCSIMAdvanced) was added to achieve a ful SIL (software-in-the-loop).
"Being able to show a working plant before it's really built, increases heavily the confidence of our potential end-customers. So its pre-sales value was a crucial starting point.
  • Reducing the Time to market, having the installation "First Time Right"
  • Validating the planned investments, in order to lower the overall project risk
