Miba AG
The Miba plant in Vorchdorf processes 17,000 metric tons of powder a year. This requires 50 million kWh of electric power, 1.4 million m3 of natural gas, 12 million m3 of nitrogen, 500,000 m3 of water and much more besides, such as 3,000 m3 of cooling water in circulation every day. These are obviously major consumption items in the production process. From the knowledge of individual consumption values, energy guzzlers and savings potential should be detected in a systematic manner, initially for three locations, and optimized with relation to the project.
Miba AG is one of the leading strategic partners of
the international engine and automotive industry. The company's products –
sintered components, engine bearings, friction materials, power electronics
components and coatings – are used throughout the world in cars, trains, ships,
planes and power plants. The company has more than 22 locations
worldwide.
A powerful, cross-location software solution both for energy data acquisition and energy monitoring/management with SIMATIC B.Data for 1000 measuring points. To achieve transparency relating to the entire energy consumption of the production processes and to comply with ISO 50001.
"We
opted for a professional energy management system from Siemens that is scalable
and provides such a high performance that we can easily carry out a successive
rollout across our worldwide plants within the Miba Group."
Kurt Werl, Head of Maintenance and Facility Management
Energy transparency throughout the whole production process as a basis for process optimization and compliance with ISO 50001
Short time (four weeks) needed to realize the comprehensive solution for energy monitoring and controlling for the Vorchdorf and Roitham sites
Clear and grouped display of the energy balance and the most important consumption values of the energy use to detect energy guzzlers and savings potential.
Use of SIMATIC B.Data (and SIMATIC WinCC) as a component of the Siemens SIMATIC family and component of Siemens Totally Integrated Automation (TIA)
Future refinement of energy reporting so that corresponding key figures for improvement of the respective management are available to accompany the roll-out.
