Comecer SpA, founded in the ‘70s, an important player in Pharma sector, operates in containment systems for handling and dispensing radiopharmaceuticals for diagnostic and therapeutic use.
The main goal now is to strengthen the presence in the pharmaceutical market by exploiting the consolidated reputation in the aseptic field (isolation technology).
The customer worked on the development of a new release of the product “Baby Phill”, an automatic machine for filling/stoppering/capping of pharmaceutical bottles. The challenge to overcome though, has been generated by some complex mechanical cinematics that made it not easy to define the motors size.  Therefore, Siemens offered its full support in collaboration with the internal Application Center of Bologna, by delivering a new virtualization approach to product development, so using the "digital twin" to speed up time to market.  Siemens has hence worked on:
  • The development of the Digital Twin of the machine on NX MCD
  • The usage of the torque information recorded in the tool during the simulation in order to dimension these motors
  • The time reduction to software development, by implementing the fully Software in the Loop simulation, obtained with the integration of PLC SIM Advanced
  • The complete test of every component before the mechanical realization of the machine.
“Baby Phill” is now fully Siemens equipped:
  •  S7 1516T as controller
  • twelve S210 with related 1FK2 motors.
The customer could experience the first approach to digitalization, by having a whole integration between isolator and machine.
