Coop continuously invests in a modern infrastructure and automates
processes that were previously done mostly by hand, among other things. One
example is the packaging process for baked goods, which are portioned and
sealed in plastic film in the bagging machine. Whereas cakes of all sizes,
madeleines and cake bases usually used to be fed manually into the bagging
machine via three individual packaging lines, this is now handled by a single
system that can be retrofitted quickly and flexibly.
The 31 axes of the packaging line are driven by Simotics asynchronous motors and servo motors via Sinamics S120 servo inverters and and controlled in the Simatic S7-1500 controller. and regulated in the Simatic S7-1500 controller. The connection to Profinet and the Motion Control Safety Integrated functions integrated in the S7 controller allow for consistent and flexible safety management. The entire system can be operated and monitored via the Simatic TP1900 Comfort Control Panel. the entire system can be operated and monitored.
“The system not only allows for the fully automatic wrapping of goods in
plastic film, it also saves space in our production hall and we only need one
rather than three expensive bagging machines – which is a significant cost
saving.”
