PRESEL faced a challenge when one of their main customers was running the final phase in the installation and commissioning of the biggest mining facility in Peru, just in the middle of the pandemic time, and requested training for operation and maintenance personal. One of PRESEL's business areas is providing trainings for protection and control devices in the energy sector, but this time the training needed to be executed as soon as possible and in a virtual manner.
This challenge was successfully managed thanks to the fulfillment of two main requirements:
The selection of the SIPROTEC 5 control and protection devices by the final customer, as Siemens was the only manufacturer able to provide support for the PROFINET S2 communication protocol in the control and protection devices.
The SIPROTEC DigitalTwin tool, which provides the virtual replica of any SIPROTEC 5 device to be accessed remotely from everywhere at any time.
PRESEL
was in charge of carrying out a completely virtual training using the SIPROTEC
DigitalTwin. Whit this new methodology, it was possible to train 22
employees who will be in charge of the operation and maintenance of the
mine.

to a comprehensive proposal, our customer PRESEL decided to use the SIPROTEC
DigitalTwin to carry out a completely virtual training. The
powerful SIPROTEC DigitalTwin tool allows to interact with a SIPROTEC 5 device
in the virtual environment just as if the customer was working with real
hardware, managing to cover all the points of a control and protection
training, it also allows to simulate real faults using the COMTRADE replay option.
Moreover, with the use of apps such as DIGSI, SIGRA, etc. within the
SIPROTEC DigitalTwin it is not necessary to install any additional software on customer’s
laptops.
