Poreč Croatia
Customer Situation
Poreč
riviera is one of the most successful tourist destinations in Croatia hosting
more than one hundred twenty thousand tourists daily in summer season.
While this
is great for the economy of the seventeen thousand permanent inhabitants, such
increase of population challenges the local infrastructure.
Tourism is
the main economical branch in this area, so it is critical to preserve natural
beauties and with environmental changes wastewater treatment becomes even more
important.
To keep up with the increasing demand, Odvodnja Poreč, the municipal utility company responsible for filtering wastewater and sewage, had to optimize its infrastructure. As a system
integrator specialized in water and wastewater solutions, Elmap was in
charge for the automation part of the four waste water treatment plants,
overal
integration and connection to a remote control management system that included
also
pumping
stations distributed in four agglomerations with more than remote 80
facilities.
Objectives
Automation and SCADA solution for 4
wastewater treatment plants with one main redundant controller and interconnected via public network (DSL) into one
system.
Control of all main systems in one
WWTP with one redundant controller
Integration of different subsystems
using different communication protocols
Integration
of existing remote pumping stations to SCADA
Automated
weekly/monthly reporting of KPIs, and long-term archiving of process data
Possibility
for future expansions with 2 additional WWTP
Reliable
and flexible plant
automation with redundant configuration, standardized communication and maximum
transparency
S7-1517H as main controller,
SCALANCE for Profinet ring connection
to
the field
ET200 MP for I/O’s and as
communication-converter to different subsystems
WinCC V7.5 and PM-ANALYZE running
on SIMATIC IPC 547G
Existing devices are connected
directly to
WinCC using OPC
Configuration and PLC programming
in TIA Portal.
Together
with Siemens, we have successfully solved all challenges.

(Technical Director at system integrator Elmap
d.o.o.)
Reliable state of the art solution
„from one hand" with local support, local system integrator for
maintenance,
small changes and future upgrades
Standardization due to integration
of subsystems from different producers / protocols into SIMATIC environment and
Profinet
protocol
Flawless data transfer from the
field to PLC and SCADA.
Programing with TIA Portal at least 30% faster thanks to the Library concept and preconfigured redundancy options.
Flexibility for fast adaptation to
technology changes in subsystems
Transparency of process data as basis for future
analysis and saving; Automatic data-buffering if communication to main server is interrupted; Fast report creation with preconfigured options; All data can be exported to excel for maximum transparency.
