HPs' objective was to increase automated production for the HP Jet Fusion 3D printing production workflow a year ago.
The overall goal was to increase productivity.
Together with Siemens the mission was clear: Create a solution that pushes the limits of automation for additive manufacturing (AM) with important outcomes for customers including more sustainable production, reduced labor costs and enabling longer periods of continuous manufacturing.
The concept for an automated production system is based on four building blocks:
Standardization approach in Automation Engineering based on Siemens Totally Integrated Automation.
Realization of a flexible production with SIMOVE which comprises software that enables open, modular and flexible carrier control
Full control of production. This can be achieved by monitoring and analytics. Siemens’ answer to this demand is the Siemens Real Time Locating System (short RTLS).
The optimization of the production line to ensure efficient scale-up with the joint values of HP 3D printing and Siemens
As HP and Siemens have a long-standing partnership, Siemens was the obvious choice for the realization of this project
