The production of non-woven fabric is an extremely complex issue in which many influencing factors must be taken into account. It is therefore essential to find the right settings for the machine parameters, because Dilo's customers, who are spread all over the world, expect perfection. The nonwovens are produced in a sequence of several complex process steps. Experience and expert knowledge are required here, because the individual parameters influence each other and are decisive for product quality. So how can Dilo use the existing expert knowledge to support the customer even better and more efficiently?
With the help of artificial intelligence, a self-learning application was created that analyzes the complex interdependencies in the production lines for nonwovens and derive recommendations for the operators. For this purpose, the lines are equipped with an Internet of Things (IoT) connector from Siemens that records the relevant parameters and transmits them via a secure connection to the cloud environment of the Siemens Xcelerator IoT ecosystem. There, the data are analyzed by the AI application, which generates recommendations for batch-specific parameters.
The potential of digitalization allows us to open up new fields of application at an early stage. Through the partnership with Siemens, we can take this step into the future.
Rebekka Dilo, Head of Technical Application Centre, DiloGroup
Thanks to the joint solution with Siemens, Dilo is now flexible in the reuse of data in other applications and the further development of the application in the cloud. With increasing data complexity and data volume, the corresponding processing and visualization is thus guaranteed even within a short period of time in order to be able to offer the customer an efficient benefit. Because by setting the product parameters more efficiently and time-saving, the customer can save material and energy and ensure product quality.
