  • LV network planning was not consistently supported by simulations. In special cases LV models were manually created, for a limited area of interest only and including many assumptions.
  • Changing grid infrastructure and increasing penetration of DER assets calls for more frequent investigations in LV area.
  • Manual creation of planning cases from various source data systems (GIS, billing system, etc.) very time-consuming and not flexible.
  • Many assumptions were used in the manually created models, this was time-consuming to perform and resulted in reduced model consistency and accuracy.
  • PSS®SINCAL as central tool for network planning activities
  • Automated end-to-end PSS®SINCAL model creation out of GIS data (and further databases for electrical parameters, load and feeder data)
  • Interfaces between tools: improved data sharing across systems
  • Seamless data exchange thanks to data consistency and streamlined processes
With the ability to automatically create PSS®SINCAL models from Esri GIS data, we are now able to completely model and simulate our entire LV grids for the first time. Giving us a new level of insight with higher accuracy than before.

  • Ability to have entire LV network modelled for the first time
  • Efficiency increase in planning team of ~30%
  • Improved data quality and level of detail: Grid planning consistently based on the latest data from the GIS and other internal master source systems
  • High-quality models give confidence to leverage existing assets
  • Reduced cost for data management with efficient asset data exchange
  • Error avoidance: Improved grid model quality across multiple update interactions
