Siemens Xcelerator
  • Offer online training content to future engineers across Canada.
  • Provide the ability to test different network configuration.
  • Monitor grid’s behavior using real life Intelligent Electronic Devices (IED), and with cloud integration.
  • Test cyber vulnerabilities in energy infrastructure.
  • Build pedagogical models for virtualization technology-based experiential learning platforms.
  • Possibility to organize workshops and training sessions for many users simultaneously.
  • Installation and commissioning of SIPROTEC Dashboard, SICAM Navigator, SIPROTEC DigitalTwin. SIPROTEC Dashboard and SICAM Navigator was delivered first time in Canada.
  • Preparation of training and educational course modules for students as well as detailed training to their teachers as part of the Site Acceptance Test (SAT) so that professors can use those modules.
  • Service support for one year to run the lab.
  • BCIT and Siemens Canada recently developed a Virtualized Experiential Learning Platform (VELP) at the Critical Infrastructure Cybersecurity Lab (CICL) to offer virtualized experiential learning.
  • The CICL’s VELP uses SIPROTEC Dashboard and SICAM Navigator applications from the Insights Hub platform to monitor its modeled systems and gather data for further analysis. Upon request and approval, trainees will receive the appropriate username and password to log into applications.
  • The CICL platform uses SIPROTEC DigitalTwin for studies in the field of protection and automation.
Covid disrupted our in-person delivery of this very important learning program for our students and instructors. With Siemens' technology and support, we were able to achieve a fully immersive, experiential learning outcome without requiring physical presence or co-location of students or instructors. This has been a game changer for us with several other possibilities opening up.
