The system integrator uses the SIMATIC WinCC V7 Scada control system.
The Simatic S7-317 programmable logic controller and Simatic ET 200S PN distributed I/O modules, to which the thermocouples for measuring the temperatures of the rolls in the furnaces are connected, were installed to acquire the data.
Gontermann-Peipers awarded the implementation to focus Industrieautomation, a system integrator that specializes in complex visualization and Scada solutions.

The introduction of the new control system also increased productivity by reducing the risk of furnace failures. Gontermann-Peipers can easily create revision-proof order and batch-related evaluations, and confirm the good product quality to the customers. The open, scalable architecture of the Scada system facilitates expansions and additional operator stations.
Its years of experience in both automation and metalworking enabled the system integrator to implement the requirements placed upon the control system quickly and precisely.

Integration of the more than 20 annealing furnaces of the traditional German steel roll manufacturer Gontermann-Peipers into an ERP system with a virtualized IT infrastructure.
The manufacturer has its headquarters in Siegen, Germany and produces for customers wall over the world. 20.000 tons of iron p.a. are processed into steel rolls.
Up to 20 work, backup and profile rolls of all sizes are produced per week. the rolls are only produced to order.
