The Laboratory of Materials and Assembly Technology at the University of Paderborn has recently used a multifunctional assembly cell in which experimental data are obtained under realistic conditions, detected with a modern PC-based automation technology and processed.
A PC-based system is unavoidable for serial applications because a large number of attempts must be carried out and, in some cases, very large volumes of data must be quickly processed. And, of course, the system must be fail-safe. Siemens contributed a package consisting of an industrial PC, Soft PLC and multitouch panel for operator control.

Used Products:
  • SIMATIC IPC827D
  • SIMATIC ET 200SP
  • SIMATIC Industrial Flat Panel PRO
  • STEP 7 Basic (TIA Portal)
  • SIMATIC WinCC (TIA Portal) Engineering
  • SCALANCE X-200 managed
"Because the proposed solution was well suited to our needs. What's more, Siemens is one of the leading automation manufacturers in Germany and is particularly well represented in the automotive industry, so we can also prepare our students for their future employment."
Prof. Meschut, University of Paderborn
  • Less conversion time, more time for research

  • Rugged and reliable PC for complex tasks and fail-safe implementation

  • Prevention of maloperation, brillant display, intuitive operation
