The company builds machines for the production of cutting, grinding, resinoid bonded discs and cup wheels. Because of the small space available in the machine several junction boxes had to be installed that needed design work in the office and more installation time. The machines are assembled and tested in the factory before they are disassembled and shipped to the customer.
Davide Maternini SPA uses the decentral SIMATIC periphery ET 200AL and ET 200SP to facilitate their production process and save in cost and time. By using the ET 200AL the engineers are able to save time during the planning and implementation phase of the projects, due to the flexible mounting possibility of the modules, therefore reducing the necessary junction boxes. Additionally the diagnostics provided by the ET 200SP modules and the IO-Link sensors, without any programming necessary, allow for a faster installation and debugging during the commissioning phase on the customer site.
