This sophisticated energy management system of the SINAMICS S120 is also used in normal operation. This means that the machine can be operated very energy-efficiently despite its enormous dynamics
The system is one of the first projects in which the “Siemens Auto-Servo-Tuning from the parts program” was used. This function, which is integrated into the control system, ensures that the system automatically adapts to the mass inertia of a component. After clamping the part to be machined, potential resonance frequencies are measured directly from the part program - i.e. the frequencies at which the workpiece would start to vibrate. These disruptive frequencies are filtered out during the subsequent machining process, which increases precision and has a positive effect on the speed of forming. “A time saving of a few tenths of a second per workpiece doesn't sound like much, but with a million parts produced per year, it adds up,” summarizes Leutwyler.
