With the old drive system used mechanical valve to control flow for ID Fan 2800kW, the losses of energy and cost for maintenance of torn parts are very large every year. The obsolete slipring motor also requires frequent maintenance and service on sliprings and carbon brushes, which is time and cost consuming. Customer would like to have a solution to eliminate those problems.
Siemens LDA Vietnam offered the service of investigation on the system at site. The report and energy consumption analysis defined energy saving potential and other cost savings by using medium voltage drives to application. After all, one unit of SINAMICS PERFECT HARMONY GH180 2800kW 6kV was supplied with cell bypass and fan redundancy features together with local commissioning services.
The report from Operation department of customer shows the energy saving in period May, 2019 to May 2021 is 8,811 MWh compared to the operating energy of same period in 2018 before SINAMICS PERFECT HARMONY GH180 is installed. With eletricity cost of 5.85 Eur cent/kWh, the saving amount is 516,072 Eur in 2 years. Besides, the cost for maintenance of mechanical valve, motor slipring and carbon brushes is eliminated and about 30,000 Eu is saved additionally during that period. Moreover, not any unplanned downtime happened so far. The customer was so satisfied with the application that he purchased additionally five GH180 VFDs from Siemens. The last GH180 is delivered to
customer site in August 2021.
