Enemalta plc is the backbone of Malta’s
power system, operating a complex national network that supplies electricity to
around 400,000 households and businesses across Malta and Gozo. As an energy
provider in an island context—where reliability, autonomy, and resilience are
essential—Enemalta has spent the last years strengthening its infrastructure to
meet rising demands and new European security requirements. Founded in 1977,
the company is now driving a deep digital transformation, modernizing its operational
technology (OT) environment to enhance grid reliability, improve efficiency,
and elevate its cybersecurity posture. Guided by this vision, Enemalta is
evolving from traditional network operations toward a smarter, more
sustainable, future‑ready energy ecosystem.
To
strengthen the reliability and security of its growing OT environment, Enemalta
turned to Siemens, adopting Electrification X – OT Companion as the foundation
of its digital transformation. The cloud‑enabled solution provides visibility over more than 100 OT assets, continuous monitoring, and automated
vulnerability insights across Siemens and third‑party technologies. By unifying
supervision, cybersecurity, and asset intelligence in a single ecosystem,
Siemens empowered Enemalta to operate a more resilient, efficient, and
future‑ready national grid.
