Sustainability
Estonian Cell runs an aspen pulp mill in Estonia employing 94 people and being also the largest producer of biogas in Estonia. The company is owned by the Austrian Heinzel Group.

The strategic targets of this project were to decrease downtime at pulp production line where Aspen BCTMP* is manufactured, and secondly, to reduce costs on equipment by improved continuous monitoring and a more efficient data analysis for predictive maintenance*Bleached Chemi-Thermo Mechanical Pulp.
Plant availability is increased by detailed data of performance of the production line. Including early warnings for maintenance personal and minimized troubleshooting due to the CMS System. Also Providing a platform for EDGE analytics with Xtools analytics and Mindsphere cloud connection (under preparation).
"First results have saved life of one motor and granted the payback already."
Olev Kaarlõp, Maintenance Manager at Estonian Cell
Since the new system was installed, important vibration deviations were recognized and a prompt reactions to those further helped to avoid the breakages. All this increases the process availability by securing the vital motors operation.
The pace of pulp production is highly dependent on the market price, the client needs to adapt the production flexibly and keep the lines efficient 24/7. The process is contolled by DCS PCS7 with SIPAPER standardized application. The CMS pilot project utilizes CMS1200 for 6 main motors.
