Siemens has
implemented a comprehensive solution for the new headquarters of Felbermayr in
Wels. The building was equipped with state-of-the-art, efficient building
technology, meeting all individual customer requirements. The new headquarters
includes an 18,000 m² commercial area with a truck washing facility, paint
shop, and an extra-wide brake testing station for heavy-duty vehicles. The
complex is complemented by a three-story office and social building with a
restaurant, childcare facility, and fitness center for approximately 250
employees.
Siemens was
involved from the beginning of the project and scored points with regional
proximity through its Linz location. To meet the diverse requirements of the
different building areas, Siemens implemented individual room control for
heating, ventilation, and air conditioning. In meeting rooms, ventilation is
automatically reduced to 50% when not in use.
Optimal
energy efficiency is ensured by a sophisticated energy management system with
numerous measurement, control, and regulation technology solutions. For
example, the installed heat pumps can be used for both heating and cooling, and
an integrated water quantity evaluation optimizes resource consumption.
A special
feature installed is the summer night cooling system: in the foyer and
stairwells, roof windows automatically open at night when temperatures reach a
certain level, allowing hot air to escape.
The Desigo CC building management system forms the heart of the system and offers
maximum transparency: the building control technology visualizes meters, error
messages, and malfunctions of all systems – including those from third-party
manufacturers. The cloud-based energy and asset management platform
Navigator from Siemens enables
continuous analysis of all consumption data to prevent high costs or damage at
an early stage.
Additionally,
Siemens supplied the video surveillance and fire alarm system. This
particularly demonstrated Siemens' flexibility and problem-solving expertise:
in the truck washing facility, where conventional smoke detectors were not
suitable due to humidity, steam, and high temperatures, Siemens solved the
problem using heat cables. The halls, which are over nine meters high, required
increased sensitivity of the fire detectors – no problem thanks to the
extensive parameterization options of Siemens fire detectors.
Both video
surveillance and the fire alarm system are integrated into Desigo CC. User
comfort is not compromised, even though the entire Felbermayr building control
system is located on an external, secure server. This ensures high IT security
while allowing access to the Siemens system from any PC via a virtual computer
at any time.
