In the Škoda Warsaw metro train fit more than 1,500 passangers. It goes without saying that the rapid evacuation of passengers in the event of a fire while at the same time protecting them from false alarms is a top priority.
In 2021 Škoda, as our customer, was looking for a reliable and stand-alone fire detection system that
meets SIL2 requirements
enables a direct connection to the existing Train Control and Management System (TCMS) without the need for a special fire control panel
is a plug-and-play solution
guarantees durability and reliability
meets thehighest quality standards and use V0 material
The stand-alone fire detectors made from V0 material are connected via digital inputs (dry contacts provided by the detector) directly to the existing TCMS. This approach requires the existing control system to provide the necessary number of digital inputs, which depends on the overall concept and the quantity of installed detectors. The system supports different bases with various sensors, ensuring high availability through a single evaluation concept and detector redundancy for the supervised area.
Customers benefit from this stand-alone concept as it removes the need for a separate fire control panel. This simplifies installation and decreases failure spots, improving system reliability. The flexible detection concept, with different base options, enables easy adaptation to varied contexts, while high availability and redundancy assure continuous protection. Customers can simplify and optimize their fire detection system by directly connecting detectors to the TCMS instead of creating and maintaining a fire control panel.
Nowadays, it is essential that everyone contributes to greater sustainability. Since 2022, 37 Škoda Warsaw metro trains have been doing their part and sustainably transporting thousands of passengers safelywith Siemensto their destination every day.
