The Velaro Egypt is part of a large-scale project to develop Egypt's first high-speed rail network, which is set to become the sixth-largest in the world. It is an eight-car high-speed train specifically designed to handle Egypt's extreme climatic conditions, including high temperatures, sand, and dust. Rough conditions need solutions that can ensure passenger safety and operational efficiency. Therefore, Siemens Mobility was looking for a reliable, stand-alone fire detection system that

For Siemens Mobility, we provided customized plug-and-play detectors for 41 trains that worked with their current wiring harnesses and connectors. We designed this method to withstand harsh environments, especially in engine rooms. Our multi-criteria plug-and-play spot detectors with hidden bases eliminated the need for a separate fire control panel by enabling a direct link to the TCMS. High criteria for materials, particularly V0 material, and a greater emphasis on safety issues (SIL2) were necessary for the projects.
The stand-alone solution is advantageous since it eliminates the requirement for separate fire control panels. This lowers failure points and simplifies installation, improving system reliability. While high availability and redundancy assure ongoing protection, the flexible detection concept with multiple base configurations allows for easy adaptation to different contexts. Customers can simplify and optimize their fire detection system by connecting detectors directly to the TCMS rather than establishing a fire control panel. Siemens Mobility enables the transportation of thousands of passengers and brings them safely and sustainably to their destinations each day. This does not compromise efficiency, as shown on this example.
