Märklin is one of many companies impacted by the shortage of skilled labor and is taking action to attract young people to work in its own CNC machining operations. Vocational training with a recognized level of high quality is one way of achieving this. The approach taken involves standardized dual vocational training in CNC in close collaboration with the local educational institution, the Göppingen Vocational School (Gewerbliche Schule, Göppingen). The specific goal is increased focus on offline training and programming away from the machines. 

One CNC system for all technologies and tasks  Märklin uses a universal milling machine with SINUMERIK and 4 PC systems with SinuTrain for learning about milling, turning, and more in its in-house vocational training. The Göppingen Vocational School is one of the schools at which SinuTrain forms the backbone of vocational training and represents the link between theory and practice. On the virtual CNC system, increased focus is placed on teaching topics such as set-up and work plans, tool data, chucks, and cutting data, as well as the basic principles of CNC programming. Topics in the practical sessions cover setting up the machine, running in programs, measuring tools, and the production of components. SINUMERIK and SinuTrain form a standardized, universal system that is ideal for in-house and academic CNC training that also includes complex 5-axis machining.
