Giotto Technologies S.r.l., founded in 2021 in Lucca, Tuscany, is part of BAOSUO Enterprise, a leading Chinese company in the tissue converting sector. Giotto serves as its research and development center. The province of Lucca is the main paper production district in Italy and one of the most important in Europe. The project aimed to design and build an innovative, technologically pioneering production line that is user-friendly and safe for both operators and maintenance personnel, while delivering high and reliable performance. The machine needed to be modular in both hardware and software, with customization options for the end customer.
Siemens was chosen as the ideal partner to provide advanced solutions and continuous support throughout the machine’s development and commissioning. Key technical features include:
Each unwinder module is equipped with dedicated I/O systems: ET 200AL PN and ET 200SP PN.
Giotto utilized all features of the five Unified Comfort Panels, leveraging the collaboration option.
The PLC and HMI software was developed modularly, using the Multiuser option integrated in TIA Portal.
Over 70 real axes (plus virtual ones) were sized and configured, all managed via Sinamics S120, controlled by a 1518-TF CPU, and operating on the same Profinet network with Scalance Managed switches.
Motors used include SIMOTICS S-1FK7, with an innovative and more efficient SIMOTICS Torque 1FW solution installed on the embossing axes.
Remote assistance is managed via Sinema RC.
The collaboration with Siemens is a true technological partnership. Thanks to Siemens, we can access cutting-edge solutions, simplify design, and ensure high reliability.
