GP Plasma wanted to improve how complex deposition recipes were integrated across their machines and systems. They also needed to reduce the amount of custom coding required for each project and make their process design more flexible so they could scale and expand into new industries.
Siemens provided the SIMATIC WinCC Unified system along with the Line Coordination System and Sequential Execution System modules. These tools allowed GP Plasma to standardize recipe handling, automate production processes, and manage complex sequencing in a more efficient and structured way using the TIA Portal and SIMATIC S7-1500 controller.
The new system reduced the need for custom programming and made development, testing, and commissioning faster. It also improved usability for customers, increased process consistency and quality, and allowed GP Plasma to simulate systems without hardware.
GP Plasma operates custom manufacturing and inline coating facilities for the thin-film vacuum coating industry, specializing in R&D, pilot production, and system retrofitting.
