Sustainability
Built in the 1980s, the Lushan Waterworks supplies 25,000 tons of water daily to tens of thousands of people in the town of Guling on the top of the mountain, and controls several water sources. As time passed, the waterworks system no longer met the needs of upgrading scenic landmarks as part of the environmental protection and development goals set by the Chinese government.
Once Jiangxi Sandin Water Environment and Siemens had jointly conducted a survey of the water plant, it was decided to implement SIMATIC PCS neo, the innovative web-based process control system from Siemens.
Since our water plant entered operation, we have performed numerous remote maintenance assignments, which have been well received by the owners.
Mr. Wang Tao ,General Manager of the Jiangxi Sandin Water Environment (Group) Co., Ltd
SIMATIC PCS neo is the first fully web-based control system to provide a new dimension of process control flexibility in the process industry. Based on integrated IT/OT network and web technologies, it enables global collaboration and ensures easy and direct system access from anywhere in the world and on several devices to complete e.g. monitoring tasks. The system is no longer limited by time, space or hardware functions, and it enables truly remote operation and maintenance.
With water being a vital resource, the safety of water plants is crucial. The Windows certificate mechanism, plus SIMATIC PCS neo User Management Component, enable centralized user administration and network security protection: from the project design to system operation.  SIMATIC PCS neo also supports the Digital Twin to simulate and optimize water plants via the SIMIT simulation software.
Lushan Waterworks Project is one of the successful projects of PCS neo in China, and it will bring follow-up projects. Lushan Mountain, where the project is located, is a national scenic spot in China and one of the world cultural heritages. Its project is of great significance.
