Magna has undergone continuous expansion over
the past years, particularly in the transport of molten aluminium from the
furnace to the casting machines. To meet documentation and traceability
requirements, Magna employs RFID technology to better coordinate these
transports. This RFID solution is a crucial tool for resource management.
However, the challenging environments, such as high temperatures and
vibrations, pose significant obstacles. Additionally, the metallic components themselves
further complicate wireless communication.
Melting
furnaces and casting machines have been equipped with Siemens configurated and
robust SIMATIC systems. The RFID system can very flexibly read the transponders
without the transponder always having to be installed on the same side of the
furnace or on the machine resulting in completely digital and wireless
recording of the transport of molten materials. -SIMATIC

Now the system works really well and reliably, which
means we can expand the solution step by step.
