Nidec Arisa is a Spanish original equipment manufacturer that specializes in making presses and transfer systems for the automotive industry – and which relies on Siemens innovations to develop their product offerings.
Objectives:
Market requires a shorter machine development process and reduced start-up times.
In order to raise efficiency and reduce downtime, market is demanding standardized and optimized servo press software.
The lack on skilled workers, necessary to operate sophisticated machines, requires to design machines, intuitive and thus easy to operate.
The digital twin opens the door to standardization and digitalization: all ARISA programs based on Siemens SIMOTION were migrated to SIMATIC S7-1500T, the new generation of programmable logic controllers for motion control applications. With the help of a digital twin, the teams from Arisa and Siemens Spain began migrating the transfer system.
“We decided to start with the transfer because it is a very important point of our products, probably one of the most important, and also the most difficult to program.”
Roberto Gonzalo Engineering Director, Nidec Arisa
Use of the digital twin for training machine operators and reducing damage to the real machine
New transfer system and standardized and optimized software led to
Reduction of downtimes
Up to 25% faster commissioning time
Up to 15% reduction in overall costs
up to 20% reduction in energy costs
