RGA Custom Technologies, founded in the early 2000s, operates in the industrial automation sector, delivering high-tech solutions to the market. Particularly using PLC and SCADA from Siemens, RGA presents a professional software development team specialized in:
  • automation
  • home automation
  • networking
  • thermoregulation
  • robotics
Moreover, its customer portfolio includes companies mainly in Lombardy and northern Italy. In their turn, the latter have customers all over the world: once developed the software in the RGA offices and tested at the customer’s workshop in Italy, the plant is shipped abroad and in 50% of cases RGA supports the final start following mechanical installation.
RGA Custom Technologies has been entrusted the revamping of its palletizer (or 3D cylindrical robot) by one of its clients, Pan Chemicals - a European leader in the technology of ferrous, non-ferrous and stainless wire wire drawing lubricants. The process of revamping is an extremely important element in the line because it deals with both the initial pallet grip and the grip of the individual bags of lubricating powder that compose the pallet and finally takes care of the exit of the pallet itself to which is then applied the closing film. Here, the choice of Siemens' products to use included:
  • Kinematics Trace
  • PLC Simatic S7-1500T
  • Sinamics S120 and G120 drives.
Therefore, Siemens' outputs perfectly fit the customer’s need, which is about being able to return to use the machine in full potential and to to manage the machine and the movements of the robotic arm from a single PLC.
Despite the restrictions caused by the pandemic, we had the opportunity to re-program the machine software remotely, thus greatly reducing the timing of the work process: The entire revamping (electrical installation, panel modification, replacement engines, start-up and commissioning) took only 3 weeks.
Paolo Pezzoli - Technical Manager - RGA
In the office it was therefore possible to simulate and test the entire handling part of the machine, thus ensuring a substantial reduction in the commissioning time of the machine, thanks to the use of the Siemens technological CPU.
RGA Custom Technologies, based in Leffe (BG), offers high-tech solutions in the industrial automation sector.
