Comprehensive data analysis and visualization to bring transparency to the remote site operations
Reduction of energy costs
Decision support for capital investments
One of the biggest challenges is the stone material moisture. The moisture is impacting the energy consumption a lot, caused by higher heating efforts. The question was, which investment decision will improve the quality of the product and reduce energy costs significantly. To solve the customer's problem, Siemens designed a cloud-based data analytics and visualization platform with an automatic data collection, using moisture probes to measure raw material moisture and to analyze this data. As a result, the upstream raw material production optimization provides reduced energy costs. Furthermore, through automatic data collection and data analytics, the OEE and reliability of the plant could be improved. In this way a construction of shelters for sand and stone could be postponed.
In detail:
A cloud based data analytics and visualization platform with automatic data collection from each site
Validation of investment priorities and payback calculations
Reduction of energy usage and costs
Improvement of plant efficiency and reliability
Minimization of capital cost and monthly charges based on usage
Verified return of investments in less than 2 years
Fully automated data acquisition
Enabling upstream raw material production optimisation and synchronization
