The Schwarzwaldklinik in Bad Krozingen is a modern healthcare facility comprising several building complexes and clinics. As a hospital with high energy demands – particularly for heating, hot water production, ventilation, and medical care – it faces the challenge of increasing its energy efficiency, continuously modernizing its energy infrastructure, and simultaneously reducing operating costs. In addition, the clinic aims to increase its long-term independence from the energy market.

• Comprehensive modernization of the energy infrastructure: Renovation of the central heating systems, optimization of heat generation and distribution (including boiler replacement and hydraulic optimization of the heating circuits) and optimization of the ventilation systems
• Installation of decentralized energy generation, including two combined heat and power plants (each with 100 kWel and 140 kWth), photovoltaic systems with 123.48 kWp and 85.1 kWp, and establishing a local heating network to connect the buildings
• Implementation of a smart building and energy management system using the Desigo CC building management system and the cloud-based energy and asset management platform Navigator to monitor and continuously optimize energy demand
• Monitoring and controlling the systems to ensure savings
• Energy procurement consulting, including a transition to tranche-based and spot-market purchasing
• Conducting regular energy audits to identify further savings potential
• Implementation via "pay-as-you-save" models, supplemented by self-financed measures
