The Nuremberg distribution center was looking for a partner who is able to conduct the maintenace for the entire distribution center. This includes the conveyor systems, elevating transfer vehicles, stacker cranes, as well as control and drive technology, in one word the complete intralogistigs technology. Crucial for the customer was also that the service provider improves the on-time delivery rate and the due-date performance and sustains the performance over time.
The services rendered are:
  • Maintenance management,
  • Reliability Engineering,
  • Maintenance Operation including planning and scheduling in a 3 shift cycle of preventive and ad-hoc maintenance actions
  • implementation and operation of a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Subcontractor management
  • Spare parts management

The jointly defined goal: To improve the system's performance and keep the performance level. In order to build this a set of measurements of the entire plant are conducted. An holistic maintenance management system was established, rednering for instance  preventive maintenance  across 100% of the installed base. Maintenance practices are monitored and conditionbased rules introduced. Most recently we started to evaluate predictive maintenance technologies.
Navigating unprecedented developments can be challenging, even for seasoned leaders. Our mission is to deliver exceptional products to our customers while maintaining an uncompromised level of service. In emergencies, swift and appropriate responses are crucial to preserving trust. In this regard, we are highly satisfied with our service partners at DI CS under our contract. They have consistently demonstrated creativity and innovative thinking when faced with challenges. Most importantly, their willingness to go the extra mile with a smile assures us that we have the right service provider on board.
  • Five months after project launch the system availability was at 99,3%. It steadily improved and is at 99,8% in 2024.
  • The implementation of established and professional maintenance processes resulted in the improvement of the overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), increased cost efficiency, as well as levers for warehouse optimization.
  • The customer has gained transparency and planning security in the maintenance budget.
  • At LZN, optimization efforts also focus on operation processes such as delivery reliability and reducing processing times.
  • These are taken into consideration in the maintenance procedures and supplemented with targeted modernization measures in coordination with the customer.
  • Shortly after implementation Senseye detected an anomaly that could have potentially led to a production outage.

The international distribution center in Nuremberg (Lieferzentrum Nürnberg (LZN)) is operated by the Siemens Digital Industries (DI). Globally it is one of the most important delivery and logistic centers for products of DI namely Factory Automation, Process Automation and last not least Motion Control.
