Kri Kri is a historic dairy
producer based in Serres, Northern Greece, faced a devastating wildfire in 2013
that destroyed its factory. In response, the company made a strategic decision
to rebuild the facility exclusively with Siemens automation technologies, in
collaboration with our Solution Partner, AS Hellas.
AS Hellas, as a certified Solution Partner in F&B Expert module provided solutions for set, strained and traditional type yogurt production lines, fresh and chocolate milk. Additional, they integrated multi-lines CIP units and delivered visualization KPIs through Edge Automation.
The Simatic
S7-400 PLC & WinCC SCADA have automated Kri-Kri’s yogurt production,
eliminating bottlenecks, reducing manual tasks, and ensuring 24/7
production continuity.
Kri Kri has
achieved full traceability, reduced batch errors, and ensured compliance
thanks to SCADA data logging, real-time analytics, and automated quality
control reports.
Siemens’
automation software and energy-efficient control technologies have
significantly reduced energy and resource consumption, aligning Kri Kri
with sustainability goals.
Through
seamless ERP integration, real-time data collection via SCADA, and AS
Analytics (built on Siemens Xcelerator), the system optimizes production
flows, enhances response times, and ensures data-driven decision-making.
AS Analytics is a modern (SaaS) cloud-based platform where the acquisition of the operational data is collected from SIMATIC PLCs and transmitted to Siemens Cloud Insights Hub via both Mindconnect gateways and Industrial Edge. A Mendix application is running on Industrial Edge which handles local preprocessing, local storage and sychronization of data with the cloud. Users access data analytics through Mendix application hosted in Mendix cloud which is registered with Insights Hub.
This
project is a powerful example of how Siemens combines the real and digital
worlds, especially in a factory producing sensitive dairy products.
Thanks
to our technologies and the integration of Siemens Xcelerator, Kri Kri has
achieved a remarkable 10% increase in production, enabling them to
distribute their beloved products globally – almost over 30 countries.
The Dairy Plant achieved a 6% reduction in total production cost (2024 vs 2022).
A 13% reduction in maintenance costs (2023 vs 2021) has been achieved, accompanied by an 8% decrease in electric energy consumption (2023 vs 2020).

Southern Europe.
