As part of the “SLEP” project at the Dow site in Stade, ensuring largely uninterrupted operation of the production facilities was a key challenge in the construction of new switchgear buildings to maintain and strengthen safe production.
To meet this requirement and minimize costly downtime, Dow chose the SIVACON S8plus switchboard system from Siemens. The withdrawable design of the SIVACON S8plus low-voltage switchboard enables maximum availability, as individual components can be maintained or replaced quickly and safely during ongoing operation.
SIVACON S8plus low-voltage switchboard in Motor Control Center (MCC) design:
14 switchboards with a total of 94 panels
182 customized withdrawable units, tailored to the individual operational requirements
This strategic choice ensures that production is optimally supported by highly reliable and efficient power distribution. Dow benefits from reduced downtime, increased safety and resulting cost savings.
A comprehensive regional service network ensures short distances and fast response times in the event of a fault. This keeps system availability high and enables processes to be managed reliably and predictably.
Siemens thus provides a solution that not only ensures continuity of operations but also protects the investment over the long term.
