The outdated SCADA-System IMS-CCR provided by EUDIG AG has to be replaced. Siemens has offered modernization solutions since 2016, but due to repeated delays by the end-customer, the situation has become currently urgent. The requirements outlined in the initial concept from 2017 have significantly expanded compared to the first planning.
The replacement of field devices and control equipment within the existing brownfield infrastructure is anticipated to bring about standardization and streamlined maintenance for EBS. Furthermore, there is a need to establish contemporary security standards for critical infrastructure, with PCS 7 being certified under IEC62433.
The main solution scope provided by Siemens includes:
Control Level - DCS - IT infrastructure: PCS 7 incl. virtualization with complex backup concept
Network technology across all plants incl. 60 external structures (pump & lifting stations)
Automation Level: PCS7 process control technology - 24 PCS7 AS410
Field Level: 2000 I/O components
Establishment of an information and security system (ISMS)
Regulations according to BSI (Federal office for information technology and security)
The scope of the service agreement includes:
Oncall service 24/7 for PCS 7 and S7 TIA
Predictive maintenance, e.g. analysis of log files, patch management, etc. based on PCS MyExpert
Spare parts provision
ESX IT services
The main benefits, in addition to the resulting increase in efficiency, profitability and sustainability, can be summarized as follows:
Spare Parts Management: By adopting a unified standard and moving away from the brownfield approach due to the fact that system components are now sourced from a single manufacturer, spare parts management becomes significantly more streamlined and efficient. Additionally, in case of disruptions, the All from One solution provides advantages in terms of more straightforward communication and coordination to solve potential issues.
IT Security: The installed solution enables the fulfillment of IT security requirements concerning critical infrastructure and also facilitates a simpler and more efficient handling of patches and updates when needed.
