Prosselsheim: small community near Würzburg (around 1500 inhabitants). The wastewater treatment plant was commissioned in 1993 and has recently undergone extensive modernisation to increase efficiency and sustainability. SüdWasser: service provider in municipal and industrial drinking water + wastewater management; responsible for the modernization of the sewage plant together with Siemens.
Objectives:

• Modernization of the existing plant without interruption of operations
• Cost-effective solution for a small wastewater treatment plant (10,000 inhabitants)
• Ensuring remote monitoring and control
• Automated reporting to the water management office
• SMS alerting of staff in the event of a malfunction, even outside operating hours
• Limited human resources

The Prosselsheim wastewater treatment plant was modernised during ongoing operation with the aim of improving the efficiency and automation of the plant. WinCC Unified V18 PC Runtime was used as the control system and WinCC Unified Comfort Panel and PM-ANALYZE. The SMS alert system for malfunctions will soon be complemented by the Alarm Control Center app from Alarm IT Factory.
