The Wieland Group was founded in 1820 as an art and bell foundry and has developed into a global leader specializing in copper and copper alloys. Sustainability is part of the core business of the Wieland Group, while a safe and reliable electrical infrastructure is essential for operations. With the construction of the new 10 kV energy center and an additional 10 kV station, the sustainability ambitions were further emphasized by choosing an SF₆-free, gas-insulated medium-voltage switchgear NXPLUS C 24 blue GIS from Siemens.
Together with the long-standing EPC partner ETB Electronics GmbH, Siemens is renewing the energy center and another 10 kV station at Wieland-Werke in Velbert-Langenberg. The scope of the order included a total of 19 NXPLUS C 24 blue GIS panels, including installation, parameterization of the protection technology, commissioning of the protection devices, and the switchgear. The protection technology is based on the proven SIPROTEC 5 portfolio.
The new gas-insulated SF₆-free circuit breaker system NXPLUS C 24 blue GIS with Clean Air is a single busbar system for primary distribution networks up to 24 kV, 25 kA, and 2500 A busbar current. The systems of the blue GIS portfolio use the proven Siemens vacuum technology and offer all the advantages of a gas-insulated switchgear. The hermetically sealed stainless steel system container makes it independent of environmental conditions, and its compact dimensions ensure effective space utilization. The switchgear is F-gas-free and contributes significantly to sustainability with a Global Warming Potential < 1. A modern and innovative protection concept is enabled based on the SIPROTEC 5 portfolio.
