A sudden virus attack was hampering the plant operations and the operating system was an older version of SIMATIC PCS 7 without any antivirus protection / cyber security solution. The challenge was a running cement plant which could not be stopped for the implementation of Antivirus.
Hence, the customer needed a service partner who could provide a plant security solution and avoid PCS 7 OS downtime thus production loss.
The problem was reported before weekend and the customer received support over weekend from Siemens to arrange compatible antivirus software and immediate mobilization to site.
Siemens provided local expertise for on-site implementation of Antivirus on SIMATIC PCS 7 V7.1 / CEMAT including installation and configuration of virus protection software with McAfee ePO central management console.
Timely support from Siemens to avoid loss of production.
Complete PCS 7 system (4 Servers, 1 ES , 10 Clients) was re-installed on new hard disks with Antivirus implementation and brought back to normal in 10 days.
Protection of networks and components according to the ISS security concept.
Yanbu Cement Company (YCC) is one of the largest Cement Companies in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and also ranked as one of the top 50 companies. YCC was established in 1977 and the total capacity of YCC now stands at 4 Million Tons clinker per annum. The Line 5 expansion was commissioned in 2011 with PCS 7 as DCS and capacity of 10,000 tpd clinker.
