Customized solution for secured access
Kubota Baumaschinen employs management platform for IP-based remote maintenance of facilities

Machine Building

Kubota Baumaschinen GmbH

Kubota Baumaschinen GmbH
Zweibrücken,
Germany
Kubota is looking for a solution that could protect the automation network via a firewall and virtual private network, and support security concepts for the automation systems. The solution should permit a secured access to all plants only from one central location. User management and connection management should also be efficiently handled by the new application.
With SINEMA Remote Connect, Kubota has installed a central network management platform that supports the configuration of the production network, the endpoints and the VPN connections. This management platform allows setting and managing the access to machinery and equipment. Each plant is equipped with a SCALANCE S615 security module and integrated into the production network. The IP addresses of the machinery and equipment can thus be parameterized and efficiently managed.
“With Sinema Remote Connect, we have created a reliable basis for the expansion of our production networks, and with Scalance S615, installed a solution with which the IP addresses of the machinery and equipment can be parameterized and efficiently managed”
Marco Ibarzabal, employee of the Kaizen engineering department at the Kubota factory in Zweibrücken. (Germany).
  • The automation of the production lines is a step towards digitalization and Industrie 4.0 for Kubota.
  • The networking of separate production processes allows a continuous flow of data from the production planning all the way to the finished product, and makes it possible to access key performance indicators, on the basis of which the processes are optimized and a predictive maintenance is realized.
  • With SINEMA Remote Connect and SCALANCE S615, a reliable basis for the further expansion of the production networks was created.
The Kubota Baumaschinen GmbH is part of the Japanese Kubota Group. The construction machinery division is one of the main pillars of the company. Mini excavators and wheel loaders produced at the Zweibrücken site are destined for the European, North American and Australian markets.
Until a few years ago, the degree of automation in the Kubota production was low. With the formation of the Kaizen engineering department, the retrofitting of the plants with automation technology was started. Nowadays, complete production lines are developed, built and automated in-house.
