The family-owned company is traditional, but by no means shy of innovation: Two years ago, Sager brought Marc Loosli, now Head of Maintenance, on board with the task of leading the company into the age of Industry 4.0. Loosli remembers: "Back then, the plants ran in stand-alone mode without redundancies. The plant components were not networked with each other and were operated via touch panels from different manufacturers and of different ages." The changeover of the system during product changes - up to 80 times per shift - took a correspondingly long time. 

This is where Simatic Virtualization as a Service (SIVaaS) came into play. It acts as the data center of an industrial plant and decouples the operating system and hardware. Both are combined in a virtual machine. The robust and easily expandable system is centrally managed and maintained. 

Sager is the Swiss premium brand for innovative thermal and acoustic insulation. The history of the successful Swiss premium brand and the Sager family are closely linked right up to the present day. It all began in 1949 in Switzerland, in the Aargau community of Dürrenäsch, from where the innovative brothers Herbert and Kurt Sager left their mark on the Swiss insulation market. Today, the family business is still an independent and important employer in the region and the decisive driving force in insulation.
