At St. Joseph Hospital, energy efficiency has been at the top of the agenda since 2011. At that time, the hospital entered into an energy contracting agreement with Siemens aimed at significantly reducing energy consumption and hence energy costs and carbon emissions. The targets set at the time were significantly exceeded in the years 2012 to 2021, with average savings of approximately €340,000 per year. At the same time, the measures taken allowed carbon emissions at the site to be reduced in the forecast range of 1,300 t/a; further reductions of approx. 400 t/a were achieved by converting to gas-only operation and installing a CHP unit.
St. Joseph Hospital aims for energy optimization and sustainable security of supply. The building management platform is the most important tool for reliable operation. The status messages of all disciplines converge in Desigo CC. Fire safety and a third-party ventilation system are perfectly integrated. This means that the technical team at St. Joseph's has a complete picture at all times and can react quickly in the event of a malfunction. Desigo CC also plays a central role in energy optimization.
The recent modernization project included additional parts of the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio - the installation of the SENTRON 7KM PAC2200 CLP power monitoring device for delimiting third-party quantities as well as the SENTRON Powermanager software upgrade and the Powercenter 3000 as edge device for the energy distribution system.
The SENTRON Powermanager module shows the energy data of the entire hospital in real time and helps to optimize energy consumption.
The Siemens Xcelerator approach makes digital transformation more effective. The open digital business platform enables digital transformation faster and at a larger scale. It is designed to support each part of the digital transformation strategy.
