itb Installationstechnik Böheimkirchen GmbH had clear goals for the expansion and modernization of its company headquarters with Siemens building technology. The main focus was on creating comfortable, healthy, energy- and cost-efficient office spaces, especially against the backdrop of climate change and rising energy costs. A crucial point was also the long-term availability and reliability of the installed components for the next two decades. itb aimed for integrated and intuitive control of the entire building technology (heating, cooling, ventilation, lighting, sun protection) via a central system. Last but not least, the modernized building was also intended to serve as a practical reference object to demonstrate the benefits of intelligent building technology to its own customers.

Siemens met the individual requirements of itb Installationstechnik Böheimkirchen GmbH with comprehensive building technology solutions. During the renovation, a photovoltaic system with charging infrastructure for electric vehicles was installed, and the heating system was converted to a 50 kW air-source heat pump. The central control of the entire building technology is managed via a Siemens IP Control Center with KNX visualization. This system displays approvals and malfunctions and sends email notifications, enabling quick detection and resolution of issues, even on weekends. In all rooms, Siemens Touch Control TC5 units are installed, allowing intuitive control of heating, air conditioning, and lighting. Automatic sun protection, communicating with a weather station, controls shading based on daylight and prioritizing roller blinds over air conditioning to maximize energy efficiency. Fresh air supply in offices and meeting rooms is regulated depending on the season by natural ventilation or mechanical ventilation with integrated, automated CO2 control. The warehouse lighting was converted from 9 kW to energy-saving LEDs with daylight control, reducing energy consumption to just 1.2 kW, and the lighting automatically switches off when there is sufficient daylight. Fine control of the lighting is managed via DALI (Digital Addressable Lighting Interface). The ultimate control of the entire building technology – from lighting and shading to energy management, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and alarm and monitoring systems – is centrally integrated via KNX. Thanks to these comprehensive solutions, comfort was increased, and energy consumption was significantly minimized. The modern building technology also serves as an important object for itb to demonstrate the diverse technical possibilities to its own customers.
