Hofmann Wärmetechnik ist a global player for
continuous furnaces which are used for hardening aluminum components, mainly in
the aviation and automotive supplier industries. The motors which drive all the
automated conveyor equipment in a continuous furnace are controlled by Simatic
ET 200SP motor starter by Siemens.
Hofmann uses Sinamics G120 C and G120 D frequency converters for the drives of the air-circulation fans: They feature integrated temperature-dependent frequency regulation. The Siemens Simatic S7-1500 was chosen as the controller. The Simatic ET 200SP motor starter have complemented the ET 200 SP distributed I/O system and control the motors of the conveyor belts in the continuous furnaces. The electronic current measurement in the motor starters is used to detect blockages on the conveyor belt. For the engineering, TIA Portal is used.
