Hugo Beck Maschinenbau GmbH & Co. KG is one of the world's leading specialists for high-quality packaging solutions. The company has been manufacturing horizontal film packaging machines, flowpack and paper packaging machines since 1955. One example is the paper e-com fit machine, which automatically adjusts paper shipping bags to the size of goods being shipped, thus saving material and space.
Objectives: Hugo Beck's goal was to meet individual customer requirements with regard to performance and sustainability of packaging solutions, especially in e-commerce and mail order. The project schedule and budget had to be adhered to, especially in view of the global competitive pressure from mechanical engineers who can produce more cheaply due to the location.

The paper e-com fit e-commerce packaging solution was upgraded to the latest generation Technology CPU and WinCC Unified in terms of control and HMI and prepared for Industrial Edge. In addition, various machine functions and processes were simulated to optimize the overall solution. The control cabinet was built in the Siemens factory in Chemnitz.
Hugo Beck used almost Siemens' entire automation and digitalization portfolio. The machine was simulated and optimized before construction, can be connected directly to ERP or MES systems and optionally monitored and maintained remotely.
