Siemens Electronics Works Chengdu (SEWC) produces daily about 38,000 SIMATIC products. SEWC has become the first digital factory of Siemens China in manufacturing, quality control and logistic system by utilizing Siemens Digital Enterprise software suite and SIMATIC applications.
The function test station is integrated in the final assembly of the SIMATIC HMI panel Comfort Series. The testing time for each panel is the bottleneck of the production line.
This is why SEWC was looking for a suitable solution in order to reduce the testing time process to thus solve the bottleneck in the HMI production line. The solution should also reduce the failure rate, save time and effort as well as costs.
Siemens service experts proposed "Customer Value Co-creation" with SEWC to explore the insight of the current testing performance. Through this, they were able to gather process data from the function test station machine with a SIMATIC IPC Nanobox and developed the real-time analytics functionalities. With the created data transparency, the operator can continuously optimize the testing parameters and processes.
Reduced testing time by 10%
Optimized testing process enables approx. 40,000 euros savings per year of production and operation costs
Data transparency and analytics help customer to have insights on the test machine performance
Real-time analytics for continuous improvement is integrated into plant IT system
In Chengdu, the heart of China’s southwest, Siemens operates one of the country’s most advanced factories. Indeed, in 2018, the World Economic Forum recognized Siemens Electronic Works Chengdu (SEWC) as one of the most advanced factories in the world. An example of the Industrie 4.0 concept, this factory demonstrates how to drive innovation with digitalization and how to share experience and best practice with more than 10,000 industry partners every year.
