As the demand for whiskeys and beverage grade grain neutral spirits has exploded the current production capacity needed to be expanded.
This has placed an emphasis on a migration and modernization strategy from the current APACS / TI systems that needed to be flexible, ready for change and adaptability for future modernization.
A virtualized environment of SIMATIC PCS7 and SIMATIC Virtualization as a Service was the solution for their plant to meet these challenges.
The solution is a completely virtualized architecture with six clients, an Engineering Station, PCS7/APACS+ OS Servers and an OpenOS machine for connection to SAP.
Siemens provided services to integrate the ESXI servers and thin clients, convert the graphics, test the system during a weeklong FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing) and assist with start-up on-site for 10 days.
MGP Ingredients (MGPI) is a highly reliable provider of ingredients for a more health-conscious, environmentally-friendly world. Headquartered in Atchison, Kansas, MGPI started as a one-plant operation in the heart of America's grain belt in 1941.
