At its Almeirim (Portugal) plant, Sumol+Compal produces juices, nectars, non-carbonated liquid refreshments, canned vegetables, tomato derivatives, tomato concentrate and fruit pulp. The plant underwent a major reorganization and modernization beginning in 1998 and was officially inaugurated on the 7th of July 2003. The investment, at over 43 million euros, was aimed at increasing production capacity associated with improved operability and greater quality, safety and hygiene - aspects, which are intrinsic to the company’s operations. The plant has a total footprint of 40,000 m2 and annual production which has grown from 75,000 to 160,000 tons per year. The total capacity stands at 250,000 tons per year. It currently has a workforce of roughly 300 people. The plant currently has 18 production lines.
